“Magic” SeeMe Dog Training
In-House Training sessions during your pups daytime or overnight care with Erin O’Rourke of Magic Paws Dog Training
Training Sessions
We are happy to introduce the option for your dog to get some special attention and learn some new skills while having fun in Daytime or Overnight Care. Dogs who enroll in training will get one session per day to work on skills of your choice. Sessions will be conducted one on one, not in a play group setting unless otherwise noted. Your dog will learn to be a happy, willing, learner, and active participant in the training process. You will also have the opportunity to follow through with training in your own home to continue improving the skills your dog learns.
What dogs can benefit from this?
We believe that all dogs can benefit from training! From behavior modification, to basic obedience, to tricks and games, we believe training should be a fun and enjoyable experience for dog and human. Training this way provides mental and physical stimulation to a dog that they might miss out on otherwise, helps build relationships between dogs and humans, builds a dog’s confidence and helps them become more comfortable in the world, and more!
Recommendations for In-House Training at SeeMe Dog:
Basic commands, like sit, stay, come, etc.
Leash manners
- Confidence building exercises
- Fitness and body awareness exercises
- Canine Good Citizen preparation
- Practicing social skills with other dogs (will occur in a group setting)
Don’t see what your interested in here? Ask and we will see what we can do!
Expectations for Training:
When your dog is enrolled in training, you will receive an update after the session has been completed, which may include a written or verbal description of what was done, pictures, videos, or any combination of these.
Sessions will vary in length depending on dog’s ability, skills being worked on, and other factors, but should be around 30-45 minutes. All dogs are individuals and learn at different speeds, so there is no guaranteed timeline for dogs to master any of the training skills.
Dogs are very situational learners. This means that it will be very difficult for them to transfer the skills they learn here to their home or other environments without some training in the home. For the best experience and maximum skill retention for your dog, we strongly recommend that you pursue follow-up in-home training sessions with Erin, but this is not a requirement. This will also help you, the human, develop some skills along side your dog to continue to reinforce the behaviors that your dog is learning in your dailylife.
Our trainer is happy to make appointments on your schedule to continue training with your dog at a reduced rate. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you are interested in training in your home.
Erin O'rourke - magic paws dog training
A Lake County native, Erin grew up training her own dogs in 4-H, she went on to paid positions training dogs in college, and officially received her training certification in 2017. Erin worked in dog care facilities in Sonoma and Marin County, before moving back to her hometown of Lake County to start Magic Paws Dog Training.
Erin’s belief is that training should be an activity that enhances communication between dog and human, and it should be something both enjoy. Erin’s methods lead to dogs who like to learn, want to learn, and want to work with people.
Erin could not be more excited to bring her experience to SeeMe Dog to work with you and your dog!
